Dr. Sumaya Hashim specializes in the field of family business and entrepreneurship. With an extensive academic background and profound research accomplishments, Dr Hashim brings a wealth of knowledge and insights to the Business Family House.

Dr. Hashim successfully completed her doctoral studies at Jönköping International Business School in Sweden. Her academic journey was enriched by serving as an affiliated researcher at the prestigious Center for Family Entrepreneurship and Ownership (CeFEO). She had the honor of working with renowned scholars in the field of family business and entrepreneurship. These collaborations have enabled her to gain deep insights into the complexities of family business and entrepreneurship, especially women's entrepreneurship.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr Hashim has actively engaged in consultancy work, collaborating with internationally recognized organizations such as the MIT Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship and Jersey Finance. Her involvement in research reports for these organizations has provided her with invaluable expertise in understanding the challenges and opportunities faced by businesses, particularly family businesses, in the GCC.

Moreover, Dr. Hashim’s commitment to excellence is reflected in her ability to secure various research funds and scholarships during her doctoral education. This financial support has facilitated data collection, and conference participation in high-profile international academic conferences, including the Academy of Management, BABSON, and DIANA Conference. She has published research in esteemed academic journals such as Entrepreneurship and Regional Development and the Journal of Family Business Strategy.

One significant accomplishment in Dr. Hashim’s career is the inaugural family business course offered at the university level in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Serving as an Assistant Professor at AlFaisal University, she played a pivotal role in designing and executing this course, imparting her expertise in the field to the next generation of aspiring family business leaders. This experience has honed her skills in teaching and research, enabling her to understand the unique dynamics of family businesses and empower future generations to navigate this complex landscape.
